Acting Justice of the Queens County Supreme Court, New York
Joel L. Blumenfeld is an acting justice of the Queens County Supreme Court, Criminal Term in the 11th Judicial District of New York. He was appointed to this position in 1991 and was reappointed in 1992, 1993 and 1996. He has also served as a judge of the New York City Criminal Court since 1987. His current term expires in 2020.
Blumenfeld received his undergraduate degree from Brooklyn College in 1965 and his law degree from the George Washington Law School in 1968. He also studied at the Hebrew University for some time.
Prior to his judicial career, Blumenfeld worked as a parole officer and in the Criminal Defense Division of the Legal Aid Society of the City of New York. He was appointed to the New York City Criminal Court in 1987 and was appointed an Acting Justice of the Supreme Court in 1991.image: http://judges.newyorklawjournal.com/
